Topic: Artificial Intelligence (AI) Assessment tools in Science
Abstract
Assessment is key in the learning process regardless of mode of content delivery. The purposes of assessment include student progression, certification, and feedback to the various stakeholders. Formative and summative assessments are used in both blended and e-learning. Formulation of high-quality scoring assessment tools is critical for the learning programs. Thus,a high-quality tool should inspire confidence in the learner, facilitator, and other stakeholders that they have acquired the knowledge and skills as per intended learning outcomes. The formulation of the questions should be guided by the course content and Bloom’s taxonomy. Feedback during the assessment is very important, especially to the learners. Therefore, selection of an assessment tool should meet the expectations of the facilitator and the learners. In this lecture we are going to learn about the use of Turnitin as an Artificial Intelligence (AI) assessment tool. Turnitin has mainly been used to check the similarity index for the assignments and research work. However, Turnitin can be used for assessment of science-related content.
